The current government chairman Levan Varshalomidze, who will soon leave his post, will be leader of the opposition in Adjara, President of Georgia, Mikheil Saakashvili, who visited Adjara, said in a statement.
Saakashvili reiterated that he and his party the United National Movement are already an opposition force.
The President thanked Varshalomidze for the fact that he was able to turn Adjara and Batumi into a tourism centre and contributed to its regional development over eight years.
Archil Khabadze, former head of the CartuBank branch, owned by Bidzina Ivanishvili, will be approved today as chairman of Adjara.
The Georgian parliament approved the prime minister and new government on Oct.25. On the same day Ivanishvili held the first meeting of the Cabinet of Ministers in Kutaisi to discuss important issues.
