Some 38 employees of the Public Relations Service of the Georgian Interior Ministry have been dismissed. As the service head, Nino Giorgobiani told reporters, the Public Relations Department has been reorganised into the service.

"The reorganisation was clear. As the new Patrol TV programme is not broadcasting yet, many people had to sit around doing nothing," Giorgobiani explained.

According to the Interior Ministry's former spokesperson Salome Makharadze, Nino Giorgobiani dismissed 46 people. The reorganisation was announced on Nov.16.

"Usually, employees should be informed about dismissals beforehand and before two weeks, but it did not happen," Makharadze said. She said the list of those dismissed was posted up in the hallway of the ministry's building.

Giorgobiani did not deny Makharadze's statements and said that personnel administration is dealing with the restructuring of the service.
