Georgian Prosecutor's Office resumed a case on circumstances of Prime Minister Zurab Zhvania's death, the deceased's brother Giorgi Zhvania, who was in the prosecutor's office yesterday, told reporters.
Giorgi Zhvania left the Prosecutor's Office late in the night. He said that the investigation into his brother's death is resumed.
Zhvania said that former Justice Minister Zurab Adeishvili and former Prime Minister Vano Merabishvili hide the truth about Zurab Zhvania's death.
"I stated my view on this case and the arguments I have, now it is up to the prosecutor's office and investigator will make comments on this case," Giorgi Zhvania said.
One of the most influential politicians of Georgia - 42-year-old Prime Minister Zurab Zhvania was found dead on Feb.3, 2005 in a rented apartment with his friend, 22-year-old employee of the regional administration, Raul Yusupov. Officially, the cause of Zhvania and Yusupov's death was carbon monoxide poisoning.
According to investigators, Zurab Zhvania with his security guards arrived late in the night at the secret address for the next meeting with Raul Yusupov. When he arrived, Zhvania ordered security guards to leave them alone and come back in a few hours.
At 3:00 am the Prime Minister's bodyguard called him and Yusupov by cell phone, and then broke window grates and entered into the apartment, located on the first floor. They found Zhvania and Yusupov dead lying on the floor.
Immediately after the parliamentary elections on Oct.1, Zurab Zhvania's brother, who became an MP from the "Georgian Dream" coalition, reiterated that in fact the Prime Minister was killed in a different place and then the body was taken to the apartment in the Saburtalo Street.
