Georgian government approves rural support program

The government of Georgia has approved a rural support program, for which 50 million lari ($ 1 = 1.66 lari) was contributed from the state budget. According to the Ministry of Regional Development and Infrastructure, a decree was adopted at today's government meeting to regulate the activities under the program.

The Georgian government has also adopted a decree "On approval of the criteria and selection procedures of regional projects and projects of local government", which must be financed by the fund of regional projects in Georgia.

The decree determines procedures and criteria for selection of projects, their priority level and expediency.

According to the decree, local government authorities in Georgia will carry out large-scale infrastructure projects.

Along with this, the Ministry of Regional Development submitted a draft decree to the government, providing amendments to the government decree as of September28, 2010.

The changes include a reshuffle of the government Commission on Regional Development.
