Tbilisi mayor Gigi Ugulava appeared for questioning at the police department of Old Tbilisi on Saturday. He made the decision after Tbilisi City Court ordered to enforce mandatory appearance for questioning of the mayor.
Ugulava will be questioned as a witness in connection with the events of February 8, when the National Movement supporters, including Ugulava, were attacked by the crowd in front of the National Library.
"I have always expressed my readiness to cooperate with the investigation, but demand to interrogate Interior Minister Irakli Garibashvili as well, who has accused the opposition of provoking the clashes prior to the investigation," the mayor said before entering the police building.
Earlier, the mayor of Tbilisi has twice refused to appear for questioning, following the Ministry of Interior's appeal to the Court for enforcing his mandatory appearance for questioning.
