Georgia, Tbilisi, 18 Feb. / Trend N.Kirtskhalia /

Former head of the criminal police of Tbilisi, Boris Ivanov, residing in Moscow, demands investigation over the case initiated against him in 2006 and removal of the two charges, as he doesn't confess the guilt, and the articles fall under the amnesty.

"In the summer of 2006, when Boris Ivanov arrived from Moscow to Tbilisi, the special operative department conducted a special operation, resulting in detection of drugs in his pocket and 27 so-called Geko patrons and drugs in his house. He was charged under the third part of Article 260 and Article 236 of the Criminal Code," Ivanov's lawyer, Yason Beselia said.

According to him, in December 2006, the court replaced detention with bail upon payment of 100,000 GEL.

"The case has been in court since 2007 to this date, and no tries it; the investigation has not questioned a single witness on principle," the lawyer said.

He hopes that the court will hear the case objectively and prosecutors will also take an objective decision.

"Both charges must be removed," Beselia said.
