U.S. Ambassador Richard Norland handed over former Secretary of State, Hillary Clinton's letter to Georgian Prime Minister Bidzina Ivanishvili.

Hillary Clinton's message says when she was Secretary of State it was an honour for her to watch how the Georgian Prime Minister and his colleagues were able to ensure a peaceful transition of power and start the process of cohabitation.

"I am very proud of that progress which the U.S. and Georgia passed in a strengthening partnership. I am sure that these links will remain strong.

In 2011, our countries marked the 20th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations. Georgia has taken an important step in democratic development and in terms of the Euro-Atlantic integration. The U.S. is glad to be near Georgia during the peaceful transfer of power which could not take place without your participation," the letter says.

"I hope you will have good relations with the opposition and civil society and you will work together for the democratic and economic development of Georgia. I wish you success and happiness in your future activities," Clinton's letter says.
