EU to allocate 40 MN Euros to Georgia

The Georgian State Minister for Euro-Atlantic Integration Alexi Petriashvili and head of the EU delegation Philip Dimitrov signed a financial agreement regarding the EU allocating 40 million euros to Georgia on Wednesday.

The Georgian State Minister for Euro-Atlantic Integration Alexi Petriashvili and head of the EU delegation Philip Dimitrov signed a financial agreement regarding the EU allocating 40 million euros to Georgia on Wednesday.

The funds will be used to support development in the agriculture sector, envisaged by the Action Plan of the National Indicative Programme 2012.

Around 18 million of the allocated funds will be directed to the state budget, while 22 million - to implement small grant agricultural projects and expert aid program, as well as monitoring the course of projects, audit and evaluation of ongoing reforms.

"We decided how to help the Georgian agricultural sector and developed a scheme," he said. "This money must help Georgian farmers."

Georgian Agriculture Minister David Kirvalidze stressed at the signing ceremony that this aid will be directed to provide farmers with loans.
