Georgian Interior Minister Irakli Garibashvili signed an agreement recognising travel documents of Interpol (passports and identity cards) at the organisation's headquarters in Lyon. From Interpol the document was signed by Secretary General Roland Nobel.
Irakli Garibashvili's visit to France is taking place by the personal invitation of General Secretary of Interpol. The Georgian delegation includes the head of the National Bureau of Interpol Alexander Arakishvili and the head of administration of the Ministry of Internal Affairs Tamar Taliashvili.
The Minister of Internal Affairs of Georgia noted that this was his first visit to the headquarters of Interpol. With regard to the signed document, Garibashvili noted that the presence of Interpol travel document shown to Georgian police officers will help them make a rapid border crossing while performing their duties relating to the organisation's activities.
In turn, Nobel announced that he is going to visit Georgia. "I received the invitation to Georgia and will go there to in the near future to evaluate the country's progress ," he said.
