The Fourth Infantry Brigade began the active phase of "Agile Spirit 2013" joint Georgian-U.S military exercise in the Vaziani Training Area near Tbilisi today.

The exercises involve 350 servicemen of the U.S. Marine Corps and 23rd Battalion of the Second Infantry Brigade of the Georgian Defense Ministry. The battalion took part in peacekeeping operations in Afghanistan and returned home unscathed.

"Agile spirit 2013" military exercises are being held in Georgia for the third time. Their goal is to coordinate actions between divisions of the two countries during peacekeeping operations.

The exercises will last a month and will be divided into three phases. The active phase of the exercises began on Monday and will end on March 29. The exercises will be completed on April 5.

The exercises are open to the media. Journalists will participate there for the first time. They will be trained to cover the operations in Afghanistan.
