First Deputy Minister of Regional Development and Infrastructure of Georgia Tengiz Shergelashvili will participate in the 24th session of the Congress of Local and Regional Authorities of the Council of Europe dedicated to the topic "The crisis in Europe: a challenge for local and regional democracy" on March 19-22.
According to the ministry, Shergelashvili will participate in the session in the status of a special guest.
A discussion of the state of local and regional democracy in Georgia will take place at the opening session on 19 March. Tengiz Shergelashvili will make a report on the situation in Georgia and the planned reform of local government.
The deputy minister during the session as the Council of Europe will hold bilateral meetings. Tuesday Tengiz Shergelashvili meet with Secretary General of the Council of Europe Thorbjørn Jagland and the President of the Congress of Local and Regional Authorities Herwig van Staa.
