Georgian President does not believe prime minister’s statement on departure from politics

Georgia, Tbilisi, March 23 / Trend N.Kirtskhalia /

Georgian President Mikheil Saakashvili does not believe Bidzina Ivanishvili's promises on imminent departure from politics. As Saakashvili stated live on Imedi TV, the term of being in politics is determined by the Georgian people.

He was commenting on Ivanishvili's promise to leave politics in one or two years and "take Saakashvili with him". He said that many times in history there have been instances when the leaders of various countries have promised their citizens that they were last year in power, but their reign lasted 40 years later.

"The Prime Minister had no political experience; he will take a different look at many things - his role, the opposition, personal factor. If we serve the people, we should forget personal grievances," Saakashvili said.
