The conclusion of an agreement on the association of Georgia with the European Union will make the process of the integration into the EU irreversible, State Minister of Georgia on European and Euro-Atlantic Integration Alexi Petriashvili said at a press conference on Wednesday.
According to the State Minister the text of the Association Agreement, including the agreement on a free trade is virtually agreed, excluding small aspects.
He expressed confidence that the initialling of the agreement will take place at the Vilnius summit of 'Eastern Partnership' in the autumn, this year.
"This is an important result of a great work. The main text of the Association Agreement (it is also accompanied by applications) is agreed upon, but I will not speak on the details before the end of the negotiations. The principal negotiators are the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and the Ministry of Economy, we coordinate this process," Petriashvili said.
He noted that 70 percent of the text of the agreement was agreed at the time of the previous government, but there were very important issues that remained in the rest part of the agreement.
"Together with the experts who participated in the negotiations under the previous government, we agreed on important points," Petriashvili said.
