Azerbaijan, Baku, July 31 /Trend, E. Tariverdiyeva/
The Georgian government's main goal is to restore the country's territorial integrity peacefully through a nine month government project, Georgian ambassador to Azerbaijan Teymuraz Sharashanidze told journalists on Wednesday.
According to the ambassador, the main goals of the new government are investments, European integration, dialogue with Russia and the rule of law.
"The government is carrying out several structural reforms in state bodies and making changes to their activities," the ambassador said.
"The process of justice restoration is essential to the Georgian people," he added. "Since they are paying special attention to the rule of law, the current authorities are punishing representatives of the previous government. More than 1,000 complaints were filed against them."
The ambassador said that the Agriculture Minister was also detained.
In regards to this, "The law is the same for everyone and has no political color; the entire process is transparent," he added.
According to him, Georgia's relations with the West, including the US, are developing in a positive fashion; these positive steps include a number of bilateral meetings and joint Georgian-U.S exercises.
According to the ambassador, the agreement on association with the EU is expected to begin in November.
"Moreover, such issues as trade agreement and a visa-free regime with the EU are also being considered," the ambassador said.
