The number of those who are willing to run for presidential elections in Georgia has increased to 26.

According to the data provided by the Central Election Commission, the list of applicants as of August 5 is as follows: Michael (Gela) Saluashvili - an initiative group, Tariel Khvedelidze - an initiative group, Georgi Gahokiya - an initiative group, Shalva Natelashvili - Labour Party, Mamuka Chokhonelidze - an initiative group, Nikoloz Gorgidzhanidze - an initiative group, Georgi Targamadze - Christian Democratic Movement, Sergo Javakhadze - movement "For fair Georgia" Georgi Chikhladze - an initiative group, Merab Gorgadze - an initiative group, Georgi Liluashvili - an initiative group, Gia Chkhikvadze - an initiative group, Levan Chachua - an initiative group, Merab Suliashvili - an initiative group, Besik Adam - an initiative group, Avtandil Margiani - an initiative group, Avtandil Pilauri - an initiative group, Avtandil Ioseliani, Mamuka Melikshvili - an initiative group, Nugzar Avaliani - an initiative group, Teimuraz Bobokhidze- an initiative group, Asmat Matchavariani - an initiative group, Tamaz Bibiluri - an initiative group and Ushangi Dondzhashvili - an initiative group, Kakha Sukhishvili - an initiative group.

This time, the Central Election Commission refused to register three candidates, namely Georgi Gahokiya, Tariel Khvedelidze and Ushangi Dondzhashvili.

The deadline for submitting applications for participation in Georgia's presidential elections is September 7 and the candidates should submit the signatures of their 26,530 supporters by September 17.

CEC hasn't registered the following applicants for the presidential post. These are David Bakradze from the United National Movement, Nino Burjanadze from the Democratic Movement and Giorgi Margvelashvily from the ruling coalition Georgian Dream.
