Georgian President Mikheil Saakashvili signed a decree banning the sale of two French-made helicopters owned by the state, Head of President's Administration, Andro Barnovi told journalists on Monday.
"Georgia is a mountainous country, so the presence of helicopters is of vital importance for the conduct of both military and rescue operations. With the help of French President Nicolas Sarkozy we were given four Super Puma helicopters, but because of the complexity of procedures it was possible to deliver only two of them. The new government could have take measures for the delivery of other two, but it preferred to sell already delivered two helicopters to individuals, what we consider wrong," Barnovi said.
