The Georgian Ministry of Regional Development and Infrastructure started rehabilitation work on the road near Kazbegi, in the neutral territory between Georgia and Russia, the head of the agency, David Narmania told journalists on Tuesday before the official opening of the renewed Kazbegi customs checkpoint.
According to him, this neutral territory is one and a half kilometers long and is in poor condition; therefore, Georgia undertook the rehabilitation of the site.
"We have already begun design work. We will start repair as soon as they are completed. We assume that the road will be rehabilitated by October," Narmania noted.
According to him, the work will be carried out by the state construction company which works on a section of Kobi-Gudauri road.
