A meeting of the committees on European affairs of the parliaments of the Vishegrad group members and Georgia has officially concluded. Chairman of the European Integration Committee of Georgia, Viktor Dolidze attended this meeting.
At the final part of the meeting, participants expressed their indignation in connection with the increased pressure from Russia to the countries of the Eastern Partnership and noted that the EU should take every effort to neutralise this pressure, the Georgian parliament said on Tuesday.
Countries of this group believe the EU should also increase financing of the Eastern Partnership and make a maximum effort to bring the project to an end.
It was also noted at the final part of the meeting that signing of an association agreement with Ukraine is very important as it is one of the main keys of the Eastern Partnership and direct geographical neighbour of the EU.
When coming to Georgia, in spite of its problems with territorial integrity and that it is not a direct neighbour of the EU, member states of the Vishegrad group mentioned that Georgia takes every effort to advance deep integration with the EU and that the Georgian parliament has become stronger and especially active in implementing Euro-integration policy.
Members of the Vishegrad group will support Georgia till the end, so that the agreement would be initialled and the document signed as soon as possible at the Vilnius summit.
It was noted during the meeting that former Soviet countries should be members of EU.
