Georgia, Tbilisi, September 16 / Trend, N. Kirtzkhalia/
After Bidzina Ivanishvili retires from politics, a new era will begin in Georgia, Georgian Defence Minister Irakliy Alasaniya told on Monday in his interview to Kviris palitra newspaper.
According to him, he was against Ivanishvili's exit from politics, but afterwards he was convinced of the correctness of the decision.
"If the prime minister decided it, we will create the conditions for this change to be painless for the country. The more we think about the decision of the Prime Minister, the more we are convinced that it is a state solution. With the advent of Ivanishvili in policy, a new stage started in the history of Georgia, and a new phase will begin after his retirement," the Minister stressed.
According to Alasaniya, it is too early to talk about who will replace the Prime Minister in post.
"It is too early to talk about the future prime minister. But the Prime Minister is aware of my will and position. I have a 2-year plan and I have to finish the work started in Defence Ministry," he said.
Ivanishvili is set to leave his post in a few weeks after the presidential elections in Georgia to be held on October 27.
