David Usupashvili Speaker of Georgian Parliament met with the president of the OSCE Parliamentary Assembly, the Chairman of the Parliament of Montenegro Ranko Krivokapic.
At the press-conference held after the meeting on Monday, Usupashvili thanked the guest for the work conducted by the OSCE during the parliamentary elections.
According to him, the OSCE mission will be of particular importance for democratic presidential elections to be held on October 27.
The speaker stressed that the mandate of the OSCE is not limited with support to democracy, but security as well.
According to Usupashvili, the OSCE as an organization is adequately assessed the war in 2008.
According to him, one of the topics of discussion was bilateral cooperation. As the speaker of parliament stressed, Montenegro and Georgia are on the path of integration into the EU and NATO. In this direction inter-parliamentary cooperation will be strengthened.
According to Krivokapic, the presidential elections in Georgia will be observed by more than 50 parliamentarians from OSCE member states.
The delegation will consist of a lot of known MPs, including those who have followed the elections in Georgia in the past. The OSCE PA has nine times observed elections in Georgia. We are interested in the development of democracy in the country. The head of the OSCE observation mission will be one of the most important figures, he will make statements on the Council of Europe, NATO and other missions," Krivokapic said.
