Former governor of Mtskheta-Mtianeti region Cesar Chocheli and former Deputy Minister of Economy David Giorgadze have been detained.
They are accused of the misappropriation of state property in an especially large volume and money laundering. This information was given at the press-conference of the Finance Ministry's Investigation Service.
"To this end, Cesar Chocheli criminally contacted David Giorgadze with whom he agreed to buy a plant at the lowest possible price. Ultimately, Chocheli fraudulently owned a state property of 19,696,764 lari, which is still in his ownership," the investigation service stated.
The investigation is carried out in accordance to the Article 180 and the third part of Article 194 of the Criminal Code, which prescribe imprisonment from 9 to 12 years.
