The European Union will advise Russian representatives of its position on the process in Georgia's breakaway regions, according to a statement issued by European Commissioner Stefan Fule's office after his meeting with Georgia's Justice Minister Thea Tsulukiani, the Georgia's Foreign Ministry said. .
'During the meeting Commissioner Fule confirmed the European Union's support for territorial integrity and concern with the process it is following of the construction of barbed wire along the administrative border of Abkhazia and South Ossetia', a statement of the European Commission said.
Large scale military action was launched in South Ossetia on August 8, 2008. Later, Russian troops occupied Tskhinvali and expelled the Georgian military.
Russia recognised the independence of South Ossetia and Abkhazia in late August. In response, Tbilisi ended diplomatic relations with Moscow and has called the two unrecognised republics of Abkhazia and South Ossetia occupied territories.
