Former senior official of the Interior Ministry Oleg Melnikov was extradited from Ukraine to Georgia.
According to the Georgian Interior Ministry, former officer of the Constitutional Security Department was arrested in Kiev ten months ago and the operations on his extradition were underway.
Melnikov was accused of involvement in the murder of bank employee Sandro Girgvliani. Former Prime Minister and Interior Minister Vano Merabishvili covered up the criminals.
Melnikov was handed over to the Interior Ministry's detention center.
The decision on his extradition was made by the Ukrainian Prosecutor General's Office.
