Georgia, Tbilisi, Sept. 30 /Trend N.Kirtzkhalia/
Georgian Interior Ministry does not confirm the information on denial of entry for the Russian MP, member of PACE delegation on monitoring elections in Georgia, Vasily Likhachev to Georgia.
Likhachev was not allowed to enter this country because he previously visited Abkhazia and South Ossetia, the head of Russian delegation in PACE Alexei Pushkov told journalists on Monday.
He said that Georgian government informed about impossibility of Vasily Likhachev's visit to Georgia.
"We do not confirm this information, therefore this it is not true," Georgian Interior Ministry told journalists on Monday.
Georgian Foreign Ministry has not yet commented on the issue.
Large scale military action was launched in South Ossetia on August 8, 2008.
Later, Russian troops occupied Tskhinvali and expelled the Georgian military.
Russia recognized the independence of South Ossetia and Abkhazia in late August. In response, Tbilisi ended diplomatic relations with Moscow and has called the two unrecognized republics of Abkhazia and South Ossetia occupied territories.
