Georgia, Tbilisi, Oct. 2 / Trend N.Kirtskhalia /
President of Georgia Mikheil Saakashvili signed a decree pardoning all probationers and persons with criminal records.
Head of presidential administration Andro Barnov held a briefing on Wednesday in this regard.
According to him, on August 19, 2013, the president declared pardon of all probationers and persons, who have a criminal record.
"The decree concerned up to 18,000 people, who appealed to the President for pardoning. The President has today signed an appropriate act, which is currently on way to the relevant structures and they have to implement the act immediately", Barnov said.
He expressed hope that those structures would do their best to execute the mentioned act in a shortest time, because the future of thousands of families depend on their timely work.
"Once again let us explain that this act imposes restrictions against some particularly serious crimes, such as infringement on life, sexual freedom, actions against the state and so on. Besides, I want to address those citizens who appealed to the President for pardoning. Tomorrow, from 10.00 am, presidential administration will ensure the extradition of individual discharges from the above-mentioned decree. As this act includes personal data of individuals, we ask the pardoned persons to come to the administration and present ID card", Barnov noted.
He brought to the attention that the administration will not be able to issue a discharge if the pardoned person does not come.
Head of administration also mentioned that the process of accepting applications for pardoning will continue in a parallel mode.
