The so-called 'special stations' that existed more than a year were closed and only the mandatory closed stations remained, Georgian Interior Minister Irakli Garibashvili said on Wednesday.

"The so-called 'special stations' existed for years, over which there was no control. Practically no one was able to monitor them. The police were brought there in an outrageously forced manner and were forced to vote for a certain candidate.

"This era is a thing of the past. I mean, we have closed the artificially created stations and only maintained mandatory closed ones without which it is impossible to manage.

"I mean the same military units and Special Forces, as well as closed stations for recruits. So this is our great achievement. As I mentioned, this is an unprecedented pre-election situation and I think we should all be proud of it," Garibashvili said.
