Power transmission lines were damaged due to bad weather conditions in Samegrelo-Zemo Svaneti (Western Georgia), as a result of which around 40,000 customers have been de-energized, Energo-Pro Georgia company said.

Around 14 villages have been completely de-energized in Zugdidi municipality.

The reconstruction works in the regions has begun since the morning and the customers will be provided with electricity in stages by the end of the day, the head of the Public Relations Service of the Western Georgia of Energo-Pro Georgia Eka Uridia said.

The snowfall in Samegrelo has stopped. Yesterday's heavy rainfall caused problems in the power supply system, as well as on the roads.

The electricity supply to Adjara was restored only last night after two days of downtime.
