In December 2013, Turkish citizens constituted the majority of visitors to Georgia. According to the Georgian Interior Ministry, during the reported period, there was an increase in the number of visitors from Azerbaijan (up 16.3 percent), Armenia (up 26.8 percent), Russia (up 40.6 percent), Ukraine (up 69 3 percent) and Iran (up 33.8 percent).

Georgian Interior Ministry's statistics suggests that the growth trend also continues for visitors from the European Union. In January-December 2013, there was an increase in the number of visitors from Poland (up 80 percent), the Czech Republic (up 32 percent), Austria (up 19 percent), France (up 17 percent), Germany and Italy (an increase of 15 per cent, respectively).

In addition, the number of visitors from Kazakhstan to Georgia increased by 40 percent and from Israel by 29 percent. Belarus showed a 62 percent increase in visitors.

According to the Georgian Interior Ministry, the number of Georgian citizens crossing the state border increased as well. The number of nationals entering increased by 17.1 percent and exiting by 17.8 percent.

In December last year, 391, 724 people visited Georgia, which is 5 percent more than the same period of 2012. During 2013, visitors increased by 21.1 percent over 2012, with 5, 365, 356 people visiting Georgia.

According to the Information - Analytical Department of Georgia Interior Ministry, 2, 080, 808 tourists visited Georgia in 2013, or 39 percent of the total number of visitors, that is 16.3 percent more than in 2012.
