Georgian State Minister for Reconciliation and Civic Equality Paata Zakareishvili met with Sheikh of Georgian Muslims Ramin Igidov on Tuesday. The introductory meeting was held in the state minister's office.

Igidov has been recently elected by the Religious Council of Shiites in the Georgian Muslims Administration, Zakareshvili added.

"The council elected a person acceptable to the majority of the Shiite population in Georgia and this is an important action," state minister said. "I wish him success and promise the government's support because the interests of our citizens, the protection of their religious freedom are important for us."

Igidov discussed the importance of the country's support.

"We stand for solving the problems of all Muslims and protect their rights," he said. "I want to thank the government because Georgia has the religious freedom and the country's support."
