Last night three hectares of forest burned in the municipality of Khelvachauri (Adjara) in Georgia. Fire brigade services from Adjara, Guria and Samegrelo took part in extinguishing the fire.
As local authorities reported the firefighting was complicated by a strong wind. They stressed that the fire occurred a kilometre away from a town and there was a danger it could spread to homes. However, the fire was extinguished by the morning.
Currently the cause of the fire is being investigated and the possibility of arson is not being excluded.
