Georgia's national flag was raised in Sochi on Feb. 6 while the anthem was performed.

The president of the Georgian National Olympic Committee Leri Khabelov, head of the Georgian delegation, vice-president of the Georgian Olympic Committee Mamuka Khabareli and the mayor of Sochi attended the solemn ceremony.

The parties traditionally exchanged symbolic gifts as part of the ceremony.

Georgia is represented at the Olympics by four athletes.

Khabareli has already inspected two Olympic Villages where the Georgian sportsmen will stay.

"The accommodation meets all standards," he said.

The opening ceremony of the Olympics will be held in Sochi on Feb. 7.
The Olympic Winter Games will be held in Sochi from February 7-23.

There will be 98 sets of medals in 15 sporting competitions. Events will be held at 11 sporting facilities.
