The Batumi City Council (Sakrebulo) has accepted Mayor Jemal Ananidze’s resignation statement. This decision was supported by 14 deputies, one was against, and members of the opposition faction of the National Movement did not participate in the voting.

The Batumi City Council (Sakrebulo) has accepted Mayor Jemal Ananidze's resignation statement. This decision was supported by 14 deputies, one was against, and members of the opposition faction of the National Movement did not participate in the voting.

Ananidze addressed to the chairman of the Batumi City Council on Feb.3 regarding his resignation. He has held this post since October 4, 2012.

Ananidze has served as deputy mayor since 2010. Earlier, he headed the financial service of the Batumi city hall.
