A criminal case has been launched against Georgia's largest mobile communication company Geocell with regard to an especially large scale tax evasion by the company, Georgian Finance Ministry's Investigation Service told Trend on Feb. 14.

"A criminal case was launched under Article 218 of Georgia's Criminal Code," the service said, but refused to give details of the criminal case.

On February 13, officers of the ministry's investigation service launched an enquiry at the Geocell headquarters.

Geocell is a subsidiary of Swedish telecommunications company Telia Sonera.
