U.S. Senator Ted Poe promised support for Georgia in the process of adopting the NATO Membership Action Plan.

Poe made this statement during a meeting with Georgian Prime Minister Irakli Garibashvili in Washington, the Georgian Prime Minister's press-service reported.

Ted Poe together with Congressmen Turner, Kingston and Engel are the authors of the statement on support for Georgia. The Congressmen appealed to U.S. Secretary of State John Kerry.

The Congressmen appealed to John Kerry to support Georgia in approving the NATO Membership Action Plan at the NATO summit in London in 2014.

Georgian Prime Minister thanked Ted Poe, adding that Georgia is in need of support in this direction.

The sides exchanged views on bilateral relations between the two countries.

Garibashvili also met with U.S. Republican Senator John McCain. The sides discussed the intensification of bilateral Georgian- American relations and the prospects for future cooperation.
