The two states share many interests, according to PM Garibashvili expressing his hope on this basis that cooperation will continue successfully.

"I am honoured to make a speech in front of such a selective audience at the plenary session of the Georgian-American partnership. I am in the US for the first time in the rank of Prime Minister and would like to stress that Georgia perceives the US as an important partner and I want to thank you for constant readiness and assistance in security, territorial integrity and other directions. This is a great incentive for us to raise the new level of democracy strengthening."

More than 20 percent of Georgian land is occupied by Russia. I also want to note that Georgia is also always close to the US. When we needed to decide on the strategic partnership naturally, we decided in favour of the US. The charter is the frame of our multilateral cooperation. Georgia is continuing intensive work in all directions," the Premier said highlighting the progress achieved in the areas of security and defence.

"More than 20 percent of Georgian territories are occupied by Russia. I also want to note that Georgia is close to America. When it was necessary to decide on the strategic alliance, naturally we decided in favour of America. The Charter is part of our multilateral cooperation. Georgia will continue intensive work on all fronts," said the Prime Minister. "Georgia will expand its cooperation with the U.S. in the military sphere in the future.

"NATO has highlighted successful reforms in Georgia in the defence sphere. We again express our readiness to participate in the ISAF mission in 2015 and 2016 with the support of our US friends," Garibashvili said.

He also noted that the government continues to work on Georgia's transition into a logistics centre.

"This is important. We are contributing to this process by improving our transportation infrastructure," the PM noted.
