The Skytrax World Airport Awards ceremony took place in Barcelona in late March during which the airports getting the highest appraisal of passengers were declared. Tbilisi International Airport was announced as one of the best airports in Eastern Europe at the ceremony.

"Tbilisi International Airport serves around 1.4 million passengers per year. It was named among the best airports in Eastern Europe on the results of passenger survey. We are pleased that the airport which is under the management of TAV Georgia company, became one of the best hubs in Eastern Europe in a short time," the general manager of TAV Georgia, Mete Erkan said.

The following airports were declared as the best ten airports on the results of the passenger survey: Budapest Liszt Ferenc Airport, Kiev Boryspil, airports of Tallinn, Riga, Bratislava, Belgrade, Tbilisi, Sofia, Varna and Burgas.

Skytrax is an influential British consulting company, which has for many years studied and evaluated the quality of passenger service of airports and airlines around the world.

World Airport Awards is presented on the results of a survey of 12 million passengers of 110 nationalities and includes 410 airports around the world. The evaluation of airports is conducted on 39 items, among them, the registration procedure, arrival, transfers, shopping facilities, and security.
