Iran will have great prospects in gas transportation in the future, Georgian Energy Minister Kakha Kaladze said on May 14.

He was responding to the question on the possibility of Iranian gas transit via Georgia to Europe.

"If any important international project is implemented, we will take part in it," he said. "We have repeatedly proved that Georgia is a reliable partner, taking into account the implementation of such important projects as Shah Deniz and Baku-Ceyhan. Georgia will also participate in Shah Deniz 2 project which will begin in 2014.

Additional gas will be transported via Georgia to Turkey and from there to other European countries," Kaladze said.

"As for a gas storage facility construction, the operations are underway," the minister said.

"We will present an action plan in the near future," he said. "But I want to stress that the construction of a gas storage facility is in our interest."
