The Tbilisi City Court found former Georgian Defense Minister David Kezerashvili innocent.

Kezerashvili was accused of abetting an illegal alcohol business, smuggling and receiving a bribe worth $12 million.

The official was said to have started his criminal activity in 2007, when he held the post of the head of the financial police, according to the investigators.

Kezerashvili is under house arrest in France. There he was arrested by French police at the request of the Georgian side. But the French court refused to hand over the former minister to Georgia.

He is under house arrest until the final decision is made.
