Former Georgian Prime Minister, Economy Minister Giorgi Kvirikashvili and HeidelbergCement general director Michael Hampel opened a new modernized factory in Rustavi on May 28.

Latest generation separator began to work at the factory which contributes to the rise of cement quality and assortment expansion. About $10 million was spent on its installation.

The company implemented investments in amount of 4 million lari. Construction began in 2013 and was completed during the year.

Kvirikashvili said that the new separator allows to receive the kind of cement that didn't exist anywhere in Georgia until now.

"It is the real German quality which is used at infrastructural facilities of special stability. It is very important that the company carries out the entire chain of production - from raw material to separation in Georgia and 1200 people work in this system. In general, considering the nearby enterprises, the company employs 5,000 people" - Kvirikashvili said, adding that opening of another such separator is planned in Poti.

Meanwhile, according to the company's sales and marketing director Irakli Makharoblidze, HeidelbergCement owns several factories in Georgia, which ensures the availability of any quality of cement across the country.

"Our company keeps pace with the modern world achievements and is ready for any order and demand," he said.

Makharoblidze went on to add that the company's investment plans do not end there, as HeidelbergCement's board of directors, along with the German government in June will announce the future strategy on planned investment projects in Georgia.
