A group of experts of Russia's Federal Service for Veterinary and Phytosanitary Surveillance (Rosselkhoznadzor) will visit Georgia on June 15.

The Russian experts will inspect the Georgian products safety system before importing this country's agricultural products to the Russian market, Georgia's National Food Agency told Trend.

The Russian experts will get acquainted with the procedure of issuing food safety certificates and will conduct a phytosanitary control of the vegetables to be exported.

Russia allowed the import of vegetables, berries, fruit and potatoes from Georgia on May 22. The imported products should have phytosanitary and re-export certificates from the National Food Agency of Georgia's Ministry of Agriculture.

The import of the following products will be resumed to Russia: tomatoes, cucumbers, cabbage, eggplant, cherries, apricots, peaches, plums, persimmons, kiwi and berries.

Moreover, the supply of new potatoes will also be resumed, provided these products are packed up in a consumer package.

Russia banned the import of Georgia agricultural products in 2006 due to claims against their quality.
