The assembling of General Electric turbines on the Gardaban combined cycle thermal power plant has started.

The Georgian government members, parliamentarians, invited guests from Turkey, and experts visited the construction process on June 12.

The construction of the TPP moved to an active phase, according to the Executive Director of the Partnership Fund, Irakli Kovzanadze.

"The main point is that successful and timely transportation of different turbines to the construction site was held and their assembly started," he said.

The work on the preparation of foundation for the basic units is under construction and the construction of the ancillary buildings in the territory has already been completed.

Partnership Fund and the Georgian Oil and Gas Corporation JSC began the construction of thermal power station in January and plan to complete the work in 2015. The potential development of the plant will be 1.8 billion kilowatt hours. In the case of emergence of problems in the energy system of the country it will provide uninterrupted power supply for a certain period in a short time.

The investment cost of the project is $220 million. The construction is carried out by the largest Turkish CALIK ENERJI company.
