Georgia and Israel have signed an agreement on cooperation in the agriculture sector.

The agreement provides for the deepening of cooperation in goods production, food security, and the spheres of livestock, poultry, wine and veterinary medicine.

An Israeli government delegation led by the Agriculture and Rural Development Minister Yair Shamir is visiting Georgia at an invitation from the Georgian Agriculture Minister, Shalva Pipia.

Prior to the signing of the agreement, the Israeli and Georgian ministers held a meeting.

The meeting was also attended by Israeli Deputy Agriculture and Rural Development Minister for Foreign Trade Yitzhak Ben David, Israel's ambassador to Georgia Yuval Fuchs and Georgian Deputy Agriculture Ministers Ilya Kvitaishvili and David Galegashvili.

Later on, Pipia and Shamir will kick off a Georgian-Israeli business forum.

It will be attended by the members of the Israeli delegation, as well as representatives of Georgian and Israeli companies.
