Georgian Defense Minister Irakli Alasania met with his Estonian counterpart Sven Mikser as part of an international conference on defense and security in Batumi.

Later Georgian President Giorgi Margvelashvili joined the meeting.

The defense ministers of the two countries discussed bilateral cooperation in the military sphere and future plans.

Alasania informed his colleague about the main achievements in the defense transformation of Georgia. The strengthening of the defense, increase of the defense ministry's transparency and human resource management were discussed as well.

Alasania stressed that a soldier is the main valuable asset, thus outlining the priorities to be decent onditions for military service and medical care for the wounded.

Georgian defense minister also spoke about the participation of Georgian servicemen in international missions.

Moreover, the sides discussed the situation in the region and issues related to European security.

Alasania thanked the Estonian side for political support to Georgia.
