Georgia's First Deputy Foreign Minister David Zalkaliani met with the co-chairs of the Geneva talks on July 16.
Summarizing the results of the previous round of the talks, the parties discussed the details of the upcoming meeting, Georgian Foreign Ministry told Trend.
The Georgian side drew the attention to the situation in the country's occupied territories, installation of barbed wire fences by Russia in the breakaway regions of Georgia, as well as the return of refugees to their homes.
Zalkaliani underscored the importance of preserving the format of the Geneva talks and expressed hope that the European partners will support Georgia in this issue.
Geneva talks were convened after the armed conflict in Georgia in August 2008 in line with the ceasefire agreement dated August 12.
Large scale military action was launched between Georgia and Russia in South Ossetia on August 8, 2008.
Later, Russian troops occupied Tskhinvali and expelled the Georgian military.
Russia recognized the independence of South Ossetia and Abkhazia in late August.
In response, Tbilisi ended diplomatic relations with Moscow and has called the two unrecognized republics of Abkhazia and South Ossetia occupied territories.
