Georgia to take measures for objective investigation of human rights violations

Tbilisi, Georgia, August 1
By Nana Kirtzkhalia - Trend:

Georgian government will take all measures for the rapid and objective investigation of human rights violations in the country.

Georgian Prime Minister Irakli Garibashvili made the remarks commenting on the conclusion of the UN Committee on Human Rights, which expressed concern over the delays in the detection, investigation and punishment of perpetrators of human right violations in Georgia.

"This is a very serious conclusion, expressing concern about the past human rights violations and lack of operational processes of their investigation. UN urges and recommends maximum operatively to investigate committed serious crimes in the past. It should be noted that the investigation of these facts is also of great value for our government," the PM said.

Garibashvili urged representatives of the UN partner countries to familiarize with the resonant criminal cases in Georgia and the progress of their investigation.
