Georgia continues constructing a 25-kilometer section of Kakheti (Eastern Georgia) system of the Rustavi Sagarejo main gas pipeline.
Around 79 percent of the construction operations of the gas pipeline section has been completed, the Georgian Oil and Gas Corporation told Trend Aug. 27.
The construction work is estimated at 5,194,207 lari. The construction of the gas pipeline began in February and will be completed in September 2014.
Georgian company "Comfortmshen 21" is engaged in the gas pipeline section construction.
After the restoration work on the main gas pipeline is over, the uninterrupted gas supply will be ensured in Kakheti, Georgia, by using the so-called circular gas supply system.
During Soviet period, gas was supplied to Kakheti through the "Rustavi-Telavi" gas pipeline. The gas supply was ceased in the region in 1990s due to increased losses in the gas pipeline.
The official exchange rate is 1.7321 GEL/USD as of Aug. 28.
