Issues of Georgian-French military cooperation intensification discussed

Georgian Defense Minister Irakli Alasania met with his French counterpart Jean-Yves le Drianom during a working visit to France, the Ministry of Defense of Georgia told Trend Aug. 29.

The meeting was also attended by the Chief of General Staff of the Georgian Armed Forces, Major General Vakhtang Kapanadze and Deputy Defense Varlam Avaliani from the Georgian side.

The sides discussed issues of deepening of Georgian-French military cooperation, as well as the upcoming NATO summit.

Jean-Yves Le Drien reiterated his support for the Euro-Atlantic course of Georgia by the French side and thanked his counterpart for the participation of the Georgian military contingent in the EU peacekeeping mission in the Central African Republic.

The issues of regional security were also discussed at the conference
