Armed men kill 4 civilians including 2 women in E. Afghanistan

Gun shooting by unidentified armed men claimed the lives of four civilians including two women in Khost province of eastern Afghanistan, an official said on Tuesday, Xinhua reported.

"Unidentified armed men opened fire at a civilian car, killing four on the spot and injuring one more in Ismail Khil district late Monday,"Tahir Sabari, attendant governor of Khost, told Xinhua.

However, Sabari did not put finger at Taliban militants, saying "The incident would be investigated."

Moreover, the death toll from a roadside bombing in Khost province Tuesday morning rose to six, the governor said.  "Two children died of their wounds later in the hospital while four people were killed on the spot," Sabari added.

Often Taliban insurgents fighting Afghan government planted mines on roads to target Afghan, U.S. and NATO troops.
