Afghan police discover ammunition in NE province

Police in Afghanistan's northeast Takhar province found a huge quantity of ammunition from a house, a press release of Interior Ministry said Wednesday, Xinhua reported.

"The ammunition discovered from a house in Kamari Aqamasjid area includes 14 pieces of anti-personnel mines, several mortars of rocket propelled grenades and hundreds of bullets," the press release said.

Owners of the house have escaped and no one has been arrested so far, the press release said.

In the war-torn and militancy-ridden Afghanistan, hundreds of irresponsible armed men carry their arms particularly in the countryside, while arms and ammunitions are available in bulk.
