A Romanian solder was killed in Afghanistan Tuesday when his patrol vehicle drove over a mine, the Romanian Defence Ministry said.
Another soldier was severely injured in the explosion, which took place on the motorway between Kandahar and the capital Kabul, three kilometres north of the Lagman military base, DPA reported.
Romania has 1,020 soldiers stationed in Afghanistan, as part of the NATO and US missions there.
Their numbers are due to be increased by 600 in the near future.
